Speak Amharic — Privacy Policy

Summary

Speak Amharic does not collect, transmit, share, or sell any personal data. Everything you do in the app stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party services.

This policy describes that in detail, as required by Apple and applicable privacy regulations.

What we collect

Nothing. Speak Amharic operates entirely offline once installed. The app does not:

• Ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information
• Require an account or sign-in
• Track your location, contacts, photos, calendar, or any other device data
• Use any analytics or telemetry service (no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Firebase, no anything)
• Use any advertising or marketing service
• Communicate with any server we operate, or any third-party server, for any purpose
• Use cookies, fingerprinting, or other tracking technologies

What we store

The app saves your learning progress on your own device using Apple’s standard UserDefaults system. This includes:

• Your XP total, current streak, completed lessons
• Spaced-repetition review data (which words you find easy or hard)
• Settings preferences (whether sound is on, whether the Ge’ez script is shown, etc.)
• Achievement progress

This data lives on your iPhone and only your iPhone. It is not synced, backed up to our servers (we have none), or transmitted anywhere. If you delete the app, this data is permanently erased.

What you can control

Inside the app, Settings → Reset All Progress wipes every piece of data the app has stored about you. The next time you open the app it will be in a fresh state.

Uninstalling the app from your iPhone also removes all stored data.

Children’s privacy

Speak Amharic is suitable for users of all ages (rated 4+ on the App Store). It does not collect any data from children or adults. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no chat features, and no user-generated content.

Third-party services

Speak Amharic uses no third-party services. There are no SDKs, no analytics, no advertising networks, no crash reporters, no remote APIs.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here. Since the app collects no data, any future changes will only happen if the app’s functionality fundamentally changes (for example, if a future version adds optional cloud sync). Any such change would be opt-in and clearly disclosed.
